Multimedia Web Site Makeover

DMED Inc. is a company that has been selling Orthotics and Durable Medical Equipment for 25 years and been selling online for almost a decade.  Their web site however, had become stale and out dated so it was in need of a radical makeover.  Upon consulting with the owner Robert Below, he mentioned he had recently received a new DVD from one of his suppliers ( Orthaheel ).  He sent me all his catalogs, brochures and the DVD.  I encouraged him to contact Orthaheel to get permission to use this content on his new web site.  Within a few days I had reviewed everything and we moved forward with a new design.  You can click on the image to visit the DMED site (opens in new window).

In addition to the cosmetic changes there were many functional changes that took place as well.  Each page was streamlined, had video clips added where ever appropriate and we also simplified the checkout process.

Introductory Video On Home Page

The introductory video was added to the home page as a Click To Play Video.  This allows web visitors the opportunity to watch the video on their first visit, but skip it during future visits.  Since "click to play" video doesn't load until it's clicked on, it doesn't waste bandwidth or slow the loading of the home page.  Next to the introductory video we included a menu of other videos featuring specific issues.

Video Clips Used On Interior Pages

Since this was an educational DVD that covered a whole range of orthotic issues, there were several segments that provided valuable content.  We extracted each segment of the video from the DVD, edited them and placed them with the existing text and graphic content from the old site.

By adding "Click To Play" videos we were able to provide customers with an additional means of learning about solutions to their problems.  By integrating these videos and refreshing the look of the site, we brought DMED's site from "out-dated" to Cutting Edge!
